As many of our readers will already know, to complement our existing training courses, Heliguy has identified the need for a video editing course specifically geared towards drone footage. We’re offering a beginner’s guide on how to capture and edit aerial videos into a showreel you’ll be able to present to clients.
The course is located at our Newcastle HQ where you’ll have access to great facilities and the ability to chat with our dedicated team of experts between sessions. We also have a suite of dedicated editing terminals which are fully set up and ready to go.
Our training focuses on the popular editing software, Adobe Premiere Pro. This product is widely used within the professional filmmaking industry for its large range of options and accessible functionality.
Of course, no matter how great the curriculum might be, it all comes down to the teacher. On our Video Editing Course for Business, you’ll be taught by Jon Stubbs, an industry professional with extensive experience as a producer, director and photographer. Beginning his career in filmmaking over 20 years ago, he has developed an impressive portfolio and is adept in all forms of visual media from TV Commercials to Pop Promos and from Corporate Films to Documentaries and Feature Films.
Since starting at Heliguy six months ago, I’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot about the drone industry, but I’ve also been given the opportunity to expand on my existing skills. On 24th August I sat in on one of the drone video editing courses to improve my ability to produce and edit promotional footage, here’s what I thought of the training.
Before I attended the Drone Video Editing Course to learn some tricks of the trade from Jon Stubbs, I had already become mildly familiar (or so I thought) with Adobe Premiere Pro. With our course aiming to teach the fundamentals I mistakenly thought that I would already have an understanding of the majority of what was covered due to my time researching the program myself.
I was quickly proved wrong.
Within the first hour of the training, I had learned techniques which have the potential to half the time it takes me to produce a professional quality video with Premiere Pro. Ranging from nifty keyboard shortcuts to more advanced techniques that Jon has developed through his experience with the program, you’re certain to leave with a better understanding of not only simple editing but also the benefits of composition and pacing.
Jon is a brilliant course leader who runs through his points clearly and is very patient and willing to reiterate anything that has been covered should you need clarification. This isn’t a rigidly structured day of ticking boxes, it has been designed to allow you to ask questions, interact and learn in a way that suits you.
I found this approach hugely beneficial and the other trainees I spoke with after the course stated that it had been a hugely educational experience and would definitely improve their planned commercial showreels.
Note: You will be sent a PDF outlining the main course criteria so you won’t miss out on anything
The Heliguy course promises to explain the basics of drone video editing for business and, in my opinion, it more than meets its stated goals.
Here are what I consider to be the 5 key takeaways from the course. This will vary from trainee to trainee as the range of criteria covered is very impressive for a single day course.
- Shooting for the edit
- Streamlining workflows
- Cutting to music tracks
- Professional-quality footage editing
- Useful time-saving tips

We have listened to feedback from previous courses and ensured that all concerns have been addressed by our commitment to constantly improve.
With this in mind, there have been a couple of changes made to our Drone Video Editing Course for Business.
- The price for this one-day course is now: £299
- If you are attending our CAA PfCO training at our Newcastle HQ, you’re able to add this on and undertake a full 4.5-day training program. Contact our customer support team for more information.
All of our training is designed to make sure that our attendees have the best possible experience. We are always listening and constantly evolving our courses to keep up, both with the drone industry’s advances and the feedback from our trainees and customers.
